Always accessible, high speed websites. Accessed anytime, anywhere, on any device.
This principle drives all of my website developments, no matter what type of business, product or service is being advertised or sold. Accessibility is crucial to every website user, no matter who or where they are.
A few considerations include:
With the number of ways to browse the internet increasing at a phenomenal rate and the variation of devices that are being used, your website has to be ready for anything.
All of my websites are ready for any screen size on any device, whether it’s a:
– Mobile Phone, of any size
– Tablet, portrait or landscape mode
– HD Monitors & TVs
– Tesla in-car Touch Screen
Touch Screen vs. Mouse Click
While a mouse can be an extremely precise pointing device, a persons finger tip can be quite large and inaccurate, especially while on the move (walking, or taking a bus/train).
My experience with designing for touch screen devices is vast and I’m able to create an amazing user experience, removing the frustrations associated with a non-touch friendly website:
– Links too small
– Links too close together
– Pinching to zoom in or out
– Broken navigation
Not all of your visitors will have high speed internet access, especially users of cell phone networks with either low speed or poor signal.
I accommodate this by optimising the resources that are delivered to their device:
– Mobile first coding
– Minimal code
– Reduced scale imagery
– Server & browser caching
Some web technology can prevent users from viewing your site or affect indexing of your website by search engines. These technologies include:
– HTML frames
I avoid these technologies where possible, or only use them where the technology is supported.
